Out of Order

As I finished reviewing her assessment findings with her, she began to cry.

“Why did nobody tell me this before?” she asked.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me that the lower back pain could effect the nerves to my intestine?” she sobbed.

Sitting in front of me was a seemingly health woman in her mid-twenties. She had been suffering with a number of symptoms for the past two years - of which lower back pain and digestive issues were her chief complaints.

She was physicians in various fields.

She had exams.

She had tests.

She was labeled with different syndromes and conditions. And with every new syndrome diagnosis - a different medication was prescribed.

I see this in my office far too often. I consistently see younger and younger individuals with several conditions on their intake forms filled out - simply confused on where thing went wrong.

“I feel like my body hates me.”

“If I could just cut off the right side of my body I would be fine.”

“I am willing to do the work to make myself better but nobody seems to give me the direction I need.”

The above are a few phrases I hear almost on a weekly basis in my office.

These people understand that the medications they are taking aren’t actually correcting anything and it concerns them.

Whenever I see one of these cases I picture the patient in a boat with a several doctors in white lab coats.

The boat is heading into rough waters with jagged rocks and with each rock the boat hits, a doctor simply places a finger in the hole and says - “fixed!”

Then another rock - another hole - “fixed”

Over and over again - sometimes for years.

Until somebody gets in the boat and navigates it back to calmer waters they will never survive.

This is what I do in my office.

I help people navigate to calmer waters.

The body know how to heal itself and it doesn’t need drugs to do that.

I work with the body to allow the brain to communicate with the body and aid in the healing process. It is amazing to see the body change once the stress on the nervous system is reduced.
